Northwood, Inc. manages prior authorizations and the supplier network for DME/P&O for the following groups and members:

  • Blue Cross commercial (fully insured groups and members with individual coverage) and BCN commercial

    Exception: Commercial members who have pharmacy benefits through Blue Cross or BCN can obtain certain durable medical equipment (DME) products, including continuous glucose monitor (CGM) products, from participating network pharmacies. Prior authorization could be required.
  • Medicare Plus Blue℠ and BCN Advantage℠

    • Exceptions:

    • Medicare Advantage members must obtain CGM products through a participating network pharmacy. Prior authorization could be required.
    • UAW Retiree Medical Benefits Trust members with Medicare Advantage plans must obtain CGM products through a DME supplier.

Northwood is the preferred DME provider for Blue Cross commercial and Medicare Plus Blue members, and the exclusive DME provider for BCN commercial and BCN Advantage members.

Note: For diabetes supplies, Northwood manages prior authorizations for blood glucose monitors and testing supplies, and insulin pumps and supplies.
